At the UN Global Compact, we aim to mobilize a global movement of sustainable companies and stakeholders to create the world we want. That’s our vision.
To make this happen, the UN Global Compact supports companies to:
- Do business responsibly by aligning their strategies and operations with Ten Principles on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption; and
- Take strategic actions to advance broader societal goals, such as the UN Sustainable Development Goal, with an emphasis on collaboration and innovation.
UN Global Compact Network Canada
Launched in June 2013, the UN Global Compact Network Canada is a self-governing entity working closely with the UN Global Compact Head Office in New York, in accordance with a Memorandum of Understanding. UN Global Compact Network Canada functions as an extension of the UN Global Compact and is dedicated to assisting Canadian organizations with the advancement of the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact and the implementation of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In doing so, the Canadian Local Network unifies and builds the capacity of the Canadian private sector to embrace sustainable business practices by convening and accelerating opportunities for multi-stakeholder collaboration.

In September 2015, all 193 Member States of the United Nations adopted a plan for achieving a better future for all — laying out a path over the next 15 years to end extreme poverty, fight inequality and injustice, and protect our planet. At the heart of “Agenda 2030” are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which clearly define the world we want — applying to all nations and leaving no one behind.
The UN Global Compact Network Canada is poised to spearhead the movement in Canada by educating, opening dialogue, and convening stakeholders to form innovative partnerships. Since its inception in 2015, the Local Network Canada has played an important role in bringing the business case of the Global Goals to Canadian businesses, and advocating their adoption and implementation.
