About the SDGs and the Role of Business
The SDGs were introduced in late 2015 and officially put into force on January 1st, 2016. At the heart of “Agenda 2030” and the 17 Global Goals, is the cooperation of the private sectors from all 193 Member States of the United Nations. Canada is one of them and we need the support of Canadian companies to achieve the SDGs.
To accelerate cooperation, the Global Compact Network Canada surveyed Canadian organizations in 2016 to discover what is the playing field of the SDGs in Canada. Now in 2017, we launched our 2nd survey to collect valuable data on how the SDGs are received and adopted in the first year of inception. We hope to provide this information to everyone in all industries to enable professionals and companies to identify new opportunities for business and partnerships.
To raise awareness for the 17 global goals and to recognize extraordinary efforts from the Canadian business community to help advance the SDGs, the GCNC is hosting the 2nd annual SDG Awards on September 28, 2017. Learn more about participating in the SDG Awards and ceremony »
